Hello Poole ! I have information
about a ancestor that came from Poole between 1793 and 1827. His name was
William Scott. He was the son of Begermain Scott and Mary White. They were
maried at Poole 1790. If you find any of these people in your own family tree

UPDATE : William was born 1793 chrisened Nov.3 1793 at Poole, Dorset, county,
immigrated to Newfoundland, and married Providence Roberts Nov. 19 1827 his
father name was Benjamin Scott born about 1764 died Apr. 26 1810 and his
mothers name was Mary White christened 1763 died 1802 they were married 1790 at

I am a former member of 42 Commando Royal Marines. My
friend Brian Short was I think brought up in Poole. He was in the same section
of about 10 men. The section was part of Y Troop composed of about 50 men.
During the Suez operation we had waded ashore from landing craft, on the 6th.
Nov. 1956. As we lay side by side on the beach, waiting for more men to come
ashore, a machine gun opened fire on us.This resulted in Brian's death. I would
like to contact any surviving relatives of my friend, who may still be resident
in Poole. I am hoping that you may be able to help. Thanking you in

recently visit Portesham and Maiden Newton, where my relatives originate from.
Their name is Stickland, and they have family links with the Dorey, Duck and
Ford families. My great uncles were blacksmiths and I believe, kept a pub. My
paternal grandmother was Lucy Stickland, one of nine children including Kate
and Bess, who lived in Front Street Portesham. I have traced the family back to
1715, when Henry Stickland married Anne Duck at Maiden Newton. I found the
headstone of Jeremiah Brett Stickland in the church yard at Portesham. If you

successful military career throughout his life and was a Colonel in the 30th

to NZ abt 1860-64 and was the son of James Sturmey b. 1806-1808 and Susanna

the son of Walter senior who was believed to be a coal merchant and a
shipwright b. Bere Regis abt 1776. James was widowed and remarried to Suzannah

I’ve traced my family back to
a marriage between Joseph Sturmey and Elizabeth
Bush on 2 July 1736 at Corfe Castle. Can anyone help me go back further?
They had five children; Betty b1741, James b1746, Sarah b1749, Jacob b1751 who
married Mary Chaldecotte in 1771, and Joseph b1755 who married Ann Catcutt in
July 1777 who are my descendants. I have the following possible parents of
James Sturmey and Elizabeth Bush;- Walter Sturmey and Sarah Collens married
April 1699 Milton Abbas Caleb Sturmey and Elizabeth Tizard married May 1700
Bere Regis Edward Sturmey and Dorcas Strickland married Feb 1703 Godmanstone
