Northover
I am interested in the NORTHOVER
family name. I am from Washington State and I believe My GGGrandFather came
from that area. Peter Northover PhD a Senior Research Fellow at Oxford found
some documentation. He wrote me the following "In that connection I am now
certain I have identified the right William Northover. He was baptised in
Hinton St Mary, Dorset, in 1829, which matches his age of 22 in the Hudson's
Bay Co. records and for one of the Censuses." My GGGrandFather's name was
William Northover and he left England in the late 1840's or 1850's. He was
hired by the Hudson's Bay Fur Company. He shows up in the US census of 1860: 25
Jul 1860, Steilacoom Post Office, Pierce County Washington. Name Age Born
William Northover 32 England Jane 5 Pierce County Emily 3 " John 1 " The above
were his kids ... do not know why they did not list his wife ... she was a
'half breed' ... part French-Irish-Native American Indian ... they did not
count back in those days thanks john northover San Diego CA . [ John
