Compton Acres

Some of the finest gardens in Europe can be found at Compton Acres in Poole.
Compton Acres can be located off B3065 into Canford Cliffs Road. There are
many gardens of distinct and very separate styles. The most famous garden
is the Japanese Garden, which is reputed to be the only completely genuine
Japanese Garden in Europe.
There is also an Italian Garden, the Palm Court, Wooded Valley, Rock and Water Gardens, Heather Garden, Garden of Memory and herbaceous borders.
During 2003, some of the Gardens were redeveloped, including the Italian
Garden, which has been stripped out, prior to being replanted and re-opened
in April 2003. There are also new buildings providing the first stage in
improved visitor facilities on the site. This incorporates a new retail
area, Plant Centre, craft shop, model railway restaurant and delicatessen.
Visitors to Compton Acres can also enjoy free parking.
Within the gardens there are Tea Rooms, a Terrace Brasserie, overlooking
Poole Harbour and a new Ice Cream Parlour where you can relax following
your walk around the Gardens. Introduced in 2004 - Audiowise Tours - 'The Compton Acres
Experience' - A fascinating & relaxing Audio Tour around the gardens with
commentary covering the gardens and the history of Compton Acres since 1921.
